We are Francis and Laura Mallorca, in the midst of an amazing journey that God has set us on. As crazy as our journey has been, nothing beats obeying and serving in ministry together.  Our hearts are for the unreached people, that they will know Jesus Christ and in genuine relationship with Him find joy, peace, and eternal life.

Our Journey

After securing Francis’s fiance visa, we married in Southern California in September 2009. Immediately following our wedding we began preparing to depart the States for overseas ministry as missionaries. We landed in Maasin City, and for two and a half years we partnered with International Deaf Education Association (IDEA). IDEA exists to bring educational, physical, economic, and psyco-social opportunities to deaf children, their families and their communities. Our job was to bring these opportunities to unreached deaf children in provincial Southern Leyte.  And our heart to bring the gospel as well.

For deaf children in the Philippines, there are few options for education or livelihood, and even fewer for evangelism and salvation.  We had the privilege of establishing a new organization locally, called Leyte Island Association for the Deaf (LIAD). LIAD in partnership with IDEA carries on the work serving the deaf children of this region.  Many of our older posts contain stories, pictures and updates about the joys, struggles and triumphs we experienced while working with LIAD and IDEA.

Current Ministry

In December of 2012 we transitioned from deaf ministry to working full-time for our new local church. After visiting Maasin City Alliance Church we knew God had given us a new “family.” Francis volunteered for the 2 years we were with IDEA.  And he has now been officially “installed” (recognized) as the Associate and Youth Pastor in the church for the last 4 years.  His responsibilities include leading the youth ministry which serves young people from age 11 (high school) through college in an intensive discipleship process. He also is building a network with the young professionals, along with handling weekly bible studies, youth fellowships and a preaching rotation.

Laura uses her free time to assist Francis and the church with many special projects, putting her computer skills to use. She enjoys creating programs, digital art, tarpaulins, design, and crafting items for ministry use. She keeps busy with school activities and building relationships with women in the community.  Our family is complete with our son Karis Andrew (4 years old), daughter Analyn Grace (2 years old), niece Angelica (20 years old), 3 kitties and a new puppy.

Journeying On

Since our arrival in Maasin City in May 2010, we live, move and love one day at a time. We trust the Lord’s complete provision for our needs and for the survival and success of the ministry and people entrusted to us.  We are only able to be here through the generous donations of people like you, who through one-time gifts or monthly contributions, have enabled us to live and work solely focused on the ministry the Lord has called us to.
